After only two weeks in Nashville, Tammy met her future husband and business partner, John Derr. They moved to East Nashville in 1999 and married in 2000. Three wonderful children followed. After several years as a salon stylist, and 9 years as a stay-at-home mom, Tammy decided to embark on her dream of opening "Fairytales", a concept inspired by her first child, Katie. Tammy's lifelong experience as an entrepreneur encouraged her to listen to her instincts and open East Nashville's first independent children's bookstore. Although John has a full time job in the orthopedic business, he is very involved in the store. Some of John’s earliest memories are of “playing store”, and he has been a huge part of Fairytales success.
